Benefit of Being 62

A Benefit to Being 62 and Older

I love studying and continuing to learn. I loved college and just finished a year-long Stanford program on innovation last month. An unbelievable benefit of living in Minnesota is that we have a special statute that allows for people aged 62 and older to attend any state college or university for free if they are auditing a class, or $10 per class if they want the credit to count towards a degree. This was brought to our attention by some clients who have been enjoying this benefit.

What an unbelievable deal! You have to wait for the paying customers to fill the classes first, so you can’t always get the classes you want. You also have to pay for any course fee like books or lab costs. I am sure by the time I am 62 this benefit will be gone because of the huge pressure of increasing college costs and student loans. But what a wonderful benefit and way to spend your time in early retirement!

Here are some helpful links if you have an interest. Happy studying!
